Baekje, the hub of the cultural exchange in the ancient East Asia, adopted principle culture from China, further developed them, and transmitted them to Japan and East Asia. The invaluable heritage exhibiting the important interchange was recognized as a world heritage site.
It takes about twenty years to inscribe Baekje Historic Areas on the World Heritage List after the year of 1994 when Royal Tomb of King Muryeong was inscribed on the Tentative List.
Even though there were many challenging work during the nomination process, Baekje Historic Areas could be inscribed on the World Heritage List with the South Koreans’long-cherished desire.
I would like to appreciate for all your efforts for the inscription of Baekje Historic Areas.
Baekje World Heritage Center will devoutly commit ourselves as a priority, to conserve and manage the Outstanding Universal Value of the Baekje Historic Areas and hand it over to the next generation.
I hope all of you to support us in promoting the value of Baekje Historic Areas.
Thank you
Chairperson of Baekje World Heritage Center
